"Using reference photographs from my friends Bill and Lois, who made numerous African safaris, I painted this leopard in translucent acrylics. Animals are one of my favorite subjects, and this one proved to be a magnificent challenge. I tried to capture the drama of the moment, softening the background so all the emphasis would be on that wet tongue! This painting is a mate to another of my African wildlife paintings The Big Cat Nap."
