"This is my own beloved English Springer Spaniel, Darla, who has been the subject of several of my paintings. We walk to the beach every morning, so I used that setting as the background. I was surprised when I sent a photo of the painting, taped to the front of a notecard, to a friend in Wyoming who knows Darla. She phoned me and said 'Is that for sale?' and I say 'The notecard?' and she said 'No, the painting of Darla!" Well, I never thought anyone would want to buy a portrait of my dog, but I said 'Sure' and now it has a place of honor in another home where Darla is loved."
