"I set up this still life with simple items which said 'Americana' too me... a mason jar, a bandana, daisies. From a technical point of view, I painted this with what is called a limited pallette, meaning that I only used a few colors of paint. In this case, I chose versions of the 3 primary colors - Winsor Blue, Winsor Red, and Winsor Yellow - and added Sepia to help mix the darkest shades. The concept is that you'll get a very unified look to the overall painting with a limited pallette, and I felt that worked here. I also had fun matting the finished painting, using the actual bandana fabric adhered to a board for the inner mat."
